• How Lena Dunham Gets Naked On TV and Why We Love Her For It

Lena Dunham Nude On TV - Now adore Her!
Lena Dunham Nude - The show is only in its 2nd season, but went from zero to acclaim in about thirty seconds.
The premise of the show has been compared to Sex and the City, just this time the girls are 20-somethings and dealing with a considerably more tumultuous period of their lives as they try to transition into the "real world." Yes, it looks like only another chain about young, white, privileged women, but you still ought to give it focus. Why?
Because Lena Dunham has an average-looking body and is not afraid to expose it, affirming to girls everywhere that it's okay to be typical and also NOT be ashamed of your body!
And http://www.cineramadome.com/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=freenudistpicture.net don't mean typical in a negative way. Average as in normal. Typical. Anticipated. Outside of the tiny percentage of women who are tall, wafer thin, cellulite-free, huge-breasted and have no curves (otherwise known as the scantily clad women who dominate the media, advertisements, movie, TV, etc).
Lena Dunham has not been concealing her body as other "flawed" women do on TV. As her character Hannah, she's been getting nude. The sex scenes provide plenty of chance for nudity, but in the most recent episode we also see her wearing a see-through mesh top in public. (And Hannah is only one one getting naked.
In a season one episode, "The Crackcident," there 's some shocking nudity when Shoshanna, another of the women, ends up on a footpath in Brooklyn with no slacks. Her nudity is never discussed afterward, or afterwards in the show. http://www.the40daychallenge.com/__media__/js/netsoltrademark.php?d=fkk.life suppose the writers are saying, "hey nakedness is part of life." Since we all have nude bodies, it's.)

But Lena Dunham's nude scenes and naked body has generated some strong and disturbing reactions from critics. Dunham is a danger to the regular arrangement of things, only by being her real self.
She was also criticized for wearing this getup at an occasion in L.A.
"I am anti-slacks." -Lena Dunham (pictured right, with no trousers)
Dunham's answer was: If Olivia Wilde had gone to a party in small short pants, she might have been on a 'odd dressed list' or been told her ensemble was adorable. I don't believe a girl with tiny thighs would have received such no-slacks attention. I think what it really was 'Why did you all make us look at your thighs?' My answer is, get used to it because I'm going to live to be 100, and I'm going to reveal my thighs every single day till I die."
By simply exhibiting her thighs, she is challenging the same answer to nudity that naturists cope with: "Ewww! I don't wanna see that!" Nudism also opens people's eyes to body diversity, ie reality. A salon.com article about Girls' informal nudity even quoted Nicky Hoffman of The Naturist Society about how naturism empowers women.
It always looked to me like a paradox that it is simple enough to walk the roads among common Americans and recognize that most folks aren't concealing the superb skinny idealized body type under their garments. And yet to be confronted with this fact is to cause shock, controversy, and disgust. Perhaps I just underestimate the brainwashing done by the media and marketing sector.
But what's amazing is the manner Lena reacts to these assaults on her body. She doesn't give a crap! She's not dieting, not covering up and not apologizing for the way she looks.
Her body has created not just criticism, but also some really great discussion around important questions - Why does nudity make people feel disgust? What is wrong with revealing a different physique on TV? Why is it a big deal? Why does it have to mean anything?
Here are two quotes from articles that attempt to address these questions.
"in this situation the difficulty is more that the 'perfect' body is one stripped of the distinct familiarity that, by rights, comes naturally with nudity. We're unfamiliar with seeing a 'real' body represented on screen, and the closeness that it creates is startling, and challenging, and the challenge makes us uncomfortable, and suffering leads us all too frequently to the kneejerk reaction of criticism and of disgust.
"Naked as We Came: What Lena Dunham's Nudity Says About Us" by Helen Charman, Huffington Post
And a 2nd quote from "The Audacity of Lena Dunham, and Her Admirable Devotion to Making Us Look At Her Naked" by Lesley on xoJane
Truth is, we had all probably be a lot less neurotic about our own bodies if we could get used to seeing and accepting the natural variety in other folks's - without shame, and giving no fucks."
We need more of Lena Dunham nude on TV! I hope she'll keep getting nude and keep challenging the status quo. (We also obviously want more folks to attempt nudism, but we all understand it's easier to set a greater assortment of nude girls on TV than to get the audience themselves to try social nudity.)
